Some Endorsements:
- Named John & Sally Mc Kenna's Best Farmers' Market in "The Best of Ireland" in the Irish Independent Weekend Magazine, 30th Jan 2010:
There are now superb farmers' markets all over Ireland but Mahon Point scoops the gong for several reasons. Firstly it is superbly well organised, and the diversity and variety of stalls is second -to-none.The market is so charismatic and is a great place to eat. Come noon, most people are here to get lunch; brilliant vegetarian curries, the best steak sandwiches, Mexican tortillas to die for and the coffee is as good as it gets. They even bring in musicians to play as you enjoy ginger beer and a falafel or two. - Bridgestone "Best in Ireland" Award Winner 2008 & 2009: Mahon Point is an awesome farmers' market, with an atmosphere unlike any other market. The best of Cork's gastro artisans are here every Thursday and the food to eat is as outstanding as the food to buy and fill up your bags. A meeting point of local farming produce, the finest fish, meat, cheese and the freshest fruit and vegetables. To understand the avant garde of Cork artisanship you only need to come to Mahon Point.
- Recently named on The Sunday Independents Ireland's Most Stylish List 2008 (31st Aug 2008): Their " list of the most chic people, places and things." Cork cute-hoor foodies know better than to miss the market at Mahon Point every Thursday. The large forecourt of the shopping centre is where the best producers from east and west Cork get to strut their stuff in front of the city cousins. Office workers, shoppers, builders and yummy mummies gather to get the best in fresh vegetables, cake, coffee, fish, meat and cheese while enjoying a bit of on-the-hoof lunch from the hot-food stalls. If that isn't enough, you can always eyeball the Munster rugby players such as Donnacha O'Callaghan or Ronan O'Gara, who regularly use the place for a healthy refuel after training.
