Mahon Point Farmers Market stall holders have cleaned up at the annual Blas na hEireann, National Irish Food Awards 2010 held last weekend in Dingle. These awards celebrate and reward the very best of Irish produce, and the passionate, driven individuals behind it.
With Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in more than 30 product categories all Irish companies, North and South, are invited to submit food products that are commercially available in at least two outlets.

The Supreme Champion Award went to Flynn’s Kitchen, who specialize in freshly prepared meals, pate, quiches, preserves and chutneys using fresh local and organic produce. Flynn’s also won gold in the “Ready Meals & Prepared Foods” category for their Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni.
Ballyhoura Apple Farm won double silver for their Original Mulled Apple juice in the “Best New Products” category and their Spicy Apple Dressing in the “Vinegars & Dressings” category. Breheny’s Bellish were also winners in the “Vinegars & Dressings” category for their Caesar Dressing.
In the “Functional & Health Foods”, Gan Gluten won gold for their Gluten Free Bakewell Tart, while Taste A Memory Foods won bronze and silver in the “Savoury Pies & Quiches” Category for their Traditional Beef and their Lamb & Feta Cheese Pasties.
Rupert Hugh-Jones, Farmers Market Manager said “This is fantastic recognition for these producers on a national level and we are delighted to have such a strong mix of these award winners available in the Mahon Point Farmers Market every Thursday.”
